Looking to buy or sell a used piano but not sure of the condition?

GET AN INSPECTION FIRST!

Most buyers and sellers do not know what to look for and listen to when buying or selling a used piano.  Have the peace of mind of getting the piano inspected by a qualified technician before buying or selling a piano.

What is the difference between an inspection and a appraisal?

An appraisal is a legal document that is written by someone who is certified in piano appraisals for estate and insurance purposes.  The certified appraiser is liable for filling out the correct information on a legal appraisal document.

A piano inspection is similar to car inspection.  A qualified auto mechanic will lift a car on a hoist to examine the underbelly of the car, the engine, and several other components of the vehicle.

Similarly, a piano technician will examine several of the external and internal components that make up the acoustic piano.  They will also test the playability, scale design, and overall tone of the piano.
